Aerospace & Defense Digital Twin Research and Technology Gap Analysis

The Aerospace & Defense Digital Twin Research and Technology Gap Analysis white paper aims to address the challenges related to digital twin adoption. The paper provides recommendations for implementing digital twins throughout the product lifecycle, assisting the Aerospace-Defense industry in understanding the requirements for successful deployment of these digital twin enabling technologies.

One significant challenge highlighted in the INCOSE Vision statements for 2020, 2025, and 2030 is the need to bridge gaps in standards across all stakeholders (INCOSE Technical Operations, 2007); (SE Vision 2025, n.d.); (INCOSE Systems Engineering Vision 2035, n.d.).

Specifically, INCOSE’s 2020 Vision emphasized the importance of logistics and operations leveraging “design data retained in a common repository governed by data exchange standards” (INCOSE Technical Operations, 2014 p. 6) to enhance their processes. This holistic approach ensures that digital twin adoption aligns with industry needs and promotes seamless collaboration.
