Pharma & Regulatory Working Group

This Working Group will focus around four initial areas: drug discovery, drug development, drug manufacturing, and regulatory compliance leveraging key technologies such as digital twins, AR/VR, AI, intelligent automation, and advanced manufacturing.

This Working Group will focus around four initial areas: Ontology / Semantics, Interoperability, AR / VR, Responsible AI, emphasizing Generative AI across all focus areas. With committed representation from four Consortia, pre-meetings with proposed co-leads for each area are already in early shaping discussions.

Cross-Domain (Horizontal)

Capabilities & Technology

Focus:

  • Helps to create and identify the horizontal foundational elements and fundamental building blocks for digital twins
  • Contributes to standard requirements, open source and cross-functional use cases
  • Identifies and develops composable frameworks through corresponding subgroups that focus on business maturity models, system reference architectures, simulation & modeling, security & trust and spatial & visual data.
  • Develop use cases and case studies that align and are consistent with the composable framework for the Technology Showcase and promote the Technology Spotlight, focusing on DTC member innovation and thought leadership.

  • Participate in the Event Driven Cross-Functional Use Case Initiative.
  • Contribute to advancing technology capabilities and methodologies driving digital twin fundamental building blocks.
  • Contribute to v2 of the Capabilities Periodic Table. Our future updates aim to enhance interoperability with AI technologies, integrate geospatial and spatial computing more effectively, and provide clearer guidance on aligning data fidelity with specific use cases. The evolution of the CPT will emphasize the creation of intelligent digital twins that prioritize user experience and enable faster development, ensuring the framework remains at the forefront of digital twin innovation.

Focus:

  • Understand how digital twins can create value in the global infrastructure and raise awareness of the importance of the technology to the future of business.
  • Create market demand for related products and services to accelerate the market.

  • We are delivering standardized definitions, protocols and methodologies that enable infrastructure industries to create, apply, and use precise, knowledge-rich digital twins that replicate, simulate and evaluate the physical twin.
  • We are facilitating the creation of an open, interoperable information classification system based within the digital twin. This will help drive a deeper understanding of how digital twins can enable new opportunities, create efficiencies, and reach sustainability goals.

Focus:

  • While digital twin use cases are mostly developed from an operational performance perspective and for a specific domain or vertical, Financial Technology trends towards intangibles. FinTech digital twins work on domain-agnostic levels. Our Working Group faces the challenge of turning these intangibles into tangibles.

  • We are publishing opinions and position statements related to regulations, policies, and definitions.
  • We are increasing ecosystem visibility through use cases, success stories, and Value Innovation Platforms.

Focus:

  • Ensure the security of digital twins worldwide.
  • Digital twin security as a team sport, in both the technical and business domains.

  • We are endeavoring to understand the threat of cyberattack, supply chain fraud, mistakes, missed maintenance and other issues that threaten the integrity of the digital twin system, and erode trust in the data it produces and consumes.
  • We are introducing the need for a way of thinking about digital twin security and trustworthiness where risk and responsibility are shared. Actions by one will have impacts on others.

Focus:

  • Investigate how digital twins are providing a 360-degree view of network performance and usage patterns.
  • Analyze how digital twins are enabling improved analysis, optimal coverage, accurate predictive analytics, and effective management approaches.

Get involved with current projects:

  • We are looking at how organizations, by using a virtual model of an entire area or process, can visualize and test out different initiatives, making data-driven decisions based on billions of network performance data points.
  • We are evaluating these initiatives more precise enterprise-level analytics and location intelligence, to help identify optimal implementation scenarios.
  • For instance, digital twins can simulate the propagation of radio waves in various environments and identify the optimal placement of antennas and repeaters for maximum coverage and signal strength. A digital twin of a satellite communications system or cellular tower can monitor its performance in real time and identify potential issues or faults before they become critical.
